Opening a Consignment Store - Guest Blogger

Thanks to Olga Quinn

I am opening up a consignment store for children’s clothing here in town. Our Grand opening is next

month, and I am expecting a big turnout to come. We’ve advertised the opening in the local parents’

magazine, in the paper, online, and on our Facebook page. People have already been contacting me

about consigning their stuff with me. I know, being a mom myself, that what makes or breaks the

shopping experience is how well your kids are behaving. If your kids are throwing a fit, or

embarrassing you, you aren’t going to stick around and browse, but if they are being good, you’ll

shop a lot longer. For this reason, I am going to set up a children’s play area, with toys and television.

Hopefully that will keep the children entertained while mom shops, and the kids will actually enjoy

coming in the store. I’m checking out www.cabletvadvisor.com to see what options they have for a

business wanting television. I won’t need all the channels, just like the Disney Channel, and maybe

Nick Jr.

Walking Dead

Guest post of the week by Brittany Booker

I was so excited that we finally decided to get Dish Network TV because I had really been missing out on a television show that everyone of my friends talk about how much they love all the time. The show is called the “Walking Dead”.

It is tough to check out some shows because of when they come on and my schedule.  It has been through two seasons. I ended up already catching up on the first and already love the show. It is a about a strange zombie virus that has infected the world. Sounds ridiculous, I know, and sounds like something that I would never be interested in watching, but I really like it.

There is just something about shows that have to do with the end of the world that have always been interesting to me.  I also liked that movie “2012” and my favorite end of the world flick was “Apocalypto”. I think that it is a really great movie. I have really enjoyed the show, and now I know what my friends were talking about. I like it so much, that we are going to a costume party next week and I am going to go as a , yes, a zombie!

I am one of those people who can watch a movie more than once. so event though I saw "2012" in the movie theater, I would love to snuggle up on my sofa and watch it all over again.

Flying the Nest

Flying the Nest

Guest post of the week by Brittany Booker

How can it be possible? It seems like I just found out I was pregnant with our first child. Telling everyone we were going to have a baby, then the baby showers and preparing for our sweet son to make his arrival. That first year was a blur of bottles, naps, pacifiers, crawling and first steps. The next several years flew by with boo-boos and bad guys that he was always saving the world from. Then came school, baseball, basketball, football and more boo-boos (even though now he was too cool to call them that). Elementary school came and went, and middle school came and went. High school was a mix of girls, varsity sports, tests and college applications. And here we are, moving my 18 year old "baby" into his first apartment and preparing him to start his freshman year of college! Thankful for Internet Providers Lagrange and the technology that is available to keep up with his new life through emails, pictures and Facebook. It will just have to do until I can hug my son's neck in person when he comes home to visit

Out West: Thanks to Wm Rowe

I know everyone has been waiting for me to post about my big move out west, so here we go! It’s amazing. Ah-Ma-Zing. The mountains, the trees, the people, the smells, the weather, the food. All of it. I love Athens and will definitely be back to visit, but Oregon is where it’s at, people. Kaitlyn and I haven’t stayed inside for more than an hour since we moved here. Well, to sleep, but you know what I mean. I wish I could say that I miss watching Project Runway, but I haven’t even turned on Direct TV Roseburg OR since we got here.

There’s too much to do and see – it will totally put your priorities in check. We have seen sixteen – count them SIXTEEN – concerts since we left Georgia. We stopped at Red Rocks in Denver to see My Morning Jacket, and saw Reptar last night at the Ballroom. We hiked to meet some friends for lunch at the top of the mountain yesterday and drank coffee in the park this morning. The scenery beats all I’ve ever seen, and though I had heard people say it, it doesn’t even look real. With that said, COME VISIT!

Guest Post by Helen King: Getting the most out of our visit to the Harry Potter park

Our whole family has been waiting quite a while for this summer's vacation. As soon as we heard that there was going to be a Harry Potter theme park, we knew that we would have to go very soon. Well, it didn't work out for us to really go until this summer, but I think that having to wait for so much longer really has made it a little more special for us.

To get the most out of our trip though, we're doing a lot of research and reading reviews from people who have already visited it. One night when I was browsing through some reviews, I ran across the site ClearWirelessinternet.com. After I looked through it some I decided that we should switch over our home internet service to it.
I think that the one thing that we're looking the most forward to about the Harry Potter theme park is Olivander's wand shop. We just hope that at least one of the people that are picked to try out a wand is someone from our family!
